Dear Detox Diary Day 14
Dear Detox Diary
It’s day 14 and I’m now over half way through my 21-Day Mindbody Detox.
It’s not exactly the detox I had in mind when I envisioned this.
After my holiday splurging on chocolates, candy, cakes and other naughty but nice foods and drinks it was definitely a welcome change.
For weeks I was so looking forward to this Mindbody Detox, yet this has been quite a challenge that I was not expecting because detoxing with a chest virus sucks!
Nine days before Christmas that virus took hold of me, sapping my energy as my body sustained an outright war, fighting the invasion of a toxic virus. I had totally lost my voice for over a week and had to cancel a bunch of coaching sessions because I could not talk. My voice was so weak and croaky with so little volume. Then the constant nose blowing like a dripping tap, Ugh! Next came the persistent, barking cough and the brain fog. Good grief! My good little soldier T cells have been busy night and day protecting me.
Thankfully after a lot of rest and saying no to invitations I’m feeling my energy rising as I slowly come back to normal health.
In the recovery down-time the rest had provided me with a perfect opportunity to focus on the Mind Detox. And I'm seeing some splendid, immediate results including:
1) My level of frustration and stress has reduced
2) My levels of peace, joy and contentment is increasing.
3) Even with the brain fog while down with the virus I'm in the flow of creative ideas. These are coming on so strong it's becoming quite a challenge to keep up and action some of these because there are so many.
Just last night I facilitated a Guided Visualization & Mind Detox session for a group of 20 or so Women Real Estate Investors in Nashville. In our session we looked at toxic thoughts - how many we get a day, how these can mess us up, and how to eradicate these to keep focused on the positive for better outcomes. We conducted an experiment to see how our happiness could increase just through our thinking by rating our happiness level three times before, during and after the exercises in the 45-minute session.
The majority of women reported increases in happiness, one had a 30% increase in her happiness, and another participant said she experienced a 50% increase in her happiness level from the start of the session to the end. She told the group she prayed that morning for more joy and this was exactly what she prayed for. I loved hearing that! Here are some facts I shared in the session about how we think.
FACT: The average person thinks 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts a day.
FACT: Of these thoughts 80% are negative thoughts.
FACT: 95% of our thoughts are repetitive.
FACT: We can rewire our brain to eradicate toxic thoughts, replacing with positive thoughts.
Isn’t that great news! We don’t need to remain victims of our thoughts high-jacking our peace and happiness. Through focused training we can change our thinking and our thought life for the better to achieve better outcomes in all areas of our life.
Feedback: The Women Real Estate Investors gave it a double-thumbs saying they loved it because compared to other generic guided visualizations this one was so powerfully and perfectly specific to what the group needs were.
So now from this successful session I plan to create a range of industry-specific Guided Visualization sessions which will produce significant increases in positive outcomes. Reach out if you are interested in me creating a guided visualization for your work team and your specific industry - especially if you lead or manage a team or you’re in HR. I can come to you if you are in Nashville, TN, and if you are not in Nashville there are lots of options made possible with technology such as webinars etc.
